SYNOPSIS
While attending something resembling school, a little girl named Olive navigates crushing mundanity, and recounts her ever-intensifying perception of this in a diary.

FUN FACTS
• Ysstem was prompted by a single fleeting moment during my third-ever IRL visit with my girlfriend. Her sister had just come over to take us out to the city for a little while, and spent some time talking with her mother before we left. At one point in this conversation, I overhear mention of a child who was repeatedly writing in her diary that her school burned down despite no such thing ever actually happening, and I'm immediately struck with inspiration. There was something strangely profound about this. It got me thinking about the ways we devalue childrens' perspectives, and how the systems broadly understood as "normal" are often the most violent towards an invisible Other.
• Ysstem in its entirety was written over the course of 2 days.
• The name "Sammy Fame" comes from a yard sign I misread during the drive with my girlfriend and her sister.
