it's no secret that i've been stretching myself ridiculously thin for as long as my name has been Roxy Radclyffe; i've made two entire mainline albums directly tackling the consequences of that for a reason. and crucially, it does not have to be like this! it never has! so, in another major act of Roxanne Sanity Preservation™, i am officially declaring all ALIASES (any music not filed under my real name) as NOT STRICTLY "ON HIATUS" PER SE (BECAUSE ANYTHING CAN HAPPEN) BUT SIGNIFICANTLY DEPRIORITIZED until further notice.

BUT WHY?

Sanity Preservation. were you even paying attention?

OKAY BUT LIKE WHY NOW?

the mainline Roxy Radclyffe discography/filmography/bibliography/etc has reached a tipping point; there is simply too much in store, too many high-stakes projects at play for ALIASES to continue warranting any substantial resource allocation. to put things into perspective, i will list out exactly how many of these 'high-stakes projects' are tangibly in progress, excluding any plans that are still purely conceptual (which could have easily doubled or even tripled the total here.)

• 16 LPs
• 6 films
• 5 novels
• 2 poetry collections

wow! that's a lot of things! some of which i've even been learning entirely new software for! (for example, as of last month, i escaped my 14-year abusive relationship with VEGAS Pro in favor of Davinci Resolve, at least for filmmaking purposes.) no wonder my Passion Points have been so largely relegated to the Mainline zone lately. no doubt it's an exciting time to be Roxy Radclyffe!

the only thing still holding me back from fully committing to this Mostly Roxy Only approach is the mental burden of what will soon be cast into The Vault for the foreseeable future, how much of the ALIASES zone i'm near-equally eager to share, as i tragically lack the excess energy required to bring it all to life anytime soon... i yearn for Release, for all onlookers to witness these continual twists & turns, at last breaching the confines of my own mind. so here's my band-aid solution: using this blog post as an opportunity to share my outlook on the future of each yet-to-be-concluded alias! (in other words, only aliases with a definitive endpoint in mind.) that way, at least some knowledge of what's been brewing over there may float around in the meantime.

frankly, i have no idea when i'd feel compelled to return here even if i did have the energy to spare. while i do stand by the intended targets of its critique — industry beauty standards, systemic exploitation, and so on — its potential vulnerability to misreading as a plain-and-simple "Porn Bad" message still bothers me, especially in a political climate where payment processors are allowed free reign over whose livelihood is too "obscene" to exist. no matter how trivially, i refuse to play a role in normalizing anti-porn rhetoric. and let's be honest, it's not like we were sorely lacking in art projects tackling The Dark Side Of Porn anyway; i'm much more interested in exploring its virtues through unconventional means, bridging the perceived gap between porn & art. we'll see if i'm able to retool this alias accordingly, i suppose. if nothing else, i'd like it to reach a happy ending.

unsurprisingly, this alias carries with it much the same rhetorical baggage, in fact to a greater extent, since i literally have seen at least one person describe AbTVR as "satirizing porn addiction", and the worst part about that misinterpretation is I Can Understand The Thought Process. despite my best efforts to shift its tone in accordance with my personal growth, as i stopped feeling disillusioned with myself for merely indulging in the limited range of sexuality i have access to as a rural NEET, the nuances of The Hentai Spam Alias could still be lost in translation, reduced to an act of Owning The Degenerates, directly inspiring this misguided onlooker to conceptualize a "degenerate"-satirizing project of their own, which i can only hope never came to fruition.

regardless though, i do fully intend to bring this project to its official conclusion Eventually, and would consider it one of the higher-priority aliases relatively speaking. i think it's a pretty fascinating distillation of the many emotional contradictions permeating my work at large, forming some twisted amalgamation of nostalgia+horniness+dissociation+comfort+angst+romance+melancholy&etc, and i delight in the absurdity of the sprawling pseudo-narrative i have planned for its remaining 'seasons', in essence becoming an Anime of its own. i also look forward to unveiling the finale's album cover, which to this day — even 3+ years following the bulk of its creation — remains the single most complex cover in my entire discography, boasting nearly 200 layers in total. for all this time, that's just been sitting on my hard drive! and you had no idea! and you still don't know what it actually looks like!! unless you're one of the ~3 people who does, or you're reading this however many years in the future. ANYWAY THE POINT IS THAT'S PRETTY CRAZY

the EPs will continue until i run out of cover source material (that being anything of note in the several photo albums laying around my house), at which point there will be a single self-titled album using the page icon as its cover (except slightly squashed to be truly square), and most likely containing something more closely resembling "actual songs" (though still surely long), giving my fully-realized take on freeform emo. i really like the idea of an obscure emo project having an insane amount of demo EPs and then 1 album and then dropping off the face of the earth. it just feels right, for some reason.

following a subtle rebranding near the end of 2023 (de-emphasizing the theme of religion, as to ensure clearer distinction from QUEST.mpg), i've been meaning to lean harder into the analog horror element of this project, finding ways to intriguingly communicate that through audio & cover art alone. whatever semblance of a story may unfold here remains to be seen, but i trust that it'll hit me when the time is right.
